I used this page to help teach my 12 year old twins how to set up a note-taking system for themselves in notion.

Basic Setup

What is the point? Here’s what you have so far:

• You have a place to store your notes from any class, as well as the various actions you need to take from any class.
• You have a way to sort and organize this information, but you cannot see that yet... it’s still just a bunch of tables that are hard to work with.
• You can see that classes, tasks, and notes are all related to each other

What are we going to do next?

1. make it easier to work with these tables so that we have less information to enter, using filters and “Forcing Functions”
2. Create some “templates” so that we can create new notes for a class without saying what class the notes are for
3. Create some views into the task list to keep better track of what we need to do across ALL classes

Templates

• [ ] I need a way to add notes in a class (done), but these NOTES also need tasks. So that’s a “class note” template.
• [ ] Can the tasks in this class note template point to the class, not just to the parent note?
